More info:

A 68 track, 2-CD epic, though this is from the same label that previously brought us a 101-track LP / 7" combination, where the same J Church song is featured. Not so much a label sampler as a history of Very Small - 14 years and 87 releases by the time these CDs came out, though they don't cover the whole period.

CD 1 has the 'long' songs - average length 3 minutes - while CD 2 has the short stuff - average length 1:40. There are a lot of 'experimental' bands, most of which are forgettable, amidst a fair bit of grind / metalcore. There's a sprinkling of 'big names' amongst the crap band monickers (Clabberhag...?), and a few song titles that are better than the actual songs, but on balance the good outweighs the bad. Can you spot the two Tolkein references in the tracklist? The booklet consists largely of dog photos, so the walrus on the cover is a curious anomaly.
