This is not specifically a J Church single. It was a side project
by Lance under the name Cilantro (taken from the song on Quetzalcoatl),
which is the herb called Coriander in Britain and Dhania in India.
It is also Lance's favourite smell. The songs are pretty basic -
acoustic, lo-fi and 4-track in the vein of Earthquake Song
or My Lie. According to Lance, "It's just
home demos of J Church songs that never made it". A second
Cilantro single was planned but never appeared.
The front cover sleeve features an extract from Waiting
For Godot, where the characters discuss auto-erotic asphyxiation,
while the reverse carries a quote from one of those strange characters
who fantasise about having a limb amputated. Something to think
about while listening to the songs...
