Just one of the hundreds of label samplers that seem to come
out every month, though this was the first released by Damaged Goods
since their late '80s inception. It showcases 30 of the bands that
have recorded for one of the best and longest-standing UK indie
labels. There's a fair cross-section of alternative guitar music,
from garage (the label's main focus, long before it became trendy)
to pop-punk, indie-pop to Oi!. It's a shame that the J Church track
is from the still-in-print My
Favourite Place EP, not from one of the older, out of print
singles, but then it's only a sampler, not a 'rarities' album. Worth
buying just for Sunflower by Lovesick, one of the
best songs ever written. Don't argue; you're wrong.
