More info:

This issue of Cool Beans was subtitled 'Texas Companion' and that state provides a theme for many of the songs on the accompanying CD. According to its makers, "this CD charted at #1 on KAOS FM Olympia". The J Church track appears elsewhere as just College Station and it's about the year that Lance lived there when he was aged about 9 - 10.

Many of the bands could be filed under 'experimental' and it's strange to hear J Church's quite straight-sounding contribution in the midst of it all. But what I really want to know is why the American band Rula Lenska chose to name themselves after a Polish / British TV actress of the '70s and '80s?

The CD-ROM section includes 300 Cult of the Dead Cow files, though as they're an infamous hacker group I've never actually tried them.
