Update Archive

This archive began with the launch of version #4 of the site on 29 October 2004. If you've been coming here for a while, you may remember that version#1 had a red background, was hosted at Tripod and lasted for about the first six months, #2 had a bumpy blue background, was mostly hosted at Tripod but hung around for the first few months of j-church.com and #3 was the beige background with the blue stripe which started around October 2000.

18 January: Lyrics to the Split album with Storm The Tower and a bio update on Johnny Takeaway.

6 January: Eight photos from the show in Lyon last November.

3 January 2005: The final two newsletters of 2004, including a December '03 Japanese tour diary and Lance's 'best of 2004'. Also the originals of the 'Desparation...' and crossword puzzle panels on the the My Favourite Place EP artwork have finally been identified.

31 December: A minor miscellany to finish the year. The correct chorus to Lemon Zinger, a little additional info on Cat Food, Grunge 101%, Surface Meets Surface, the split 7" with Restos Fosiles and Lance's brief tenure with Monsula and an expanded bio entry on Lydia Ely.

16 December: A discography page on the Seishun Zankoku Monogatari album and Newsletter 12.95 which was originally sent out just prior to the European tour - it's mostly a list of dates but there is a review of the Ché Guevara early-days-biopic The Motorcycle Diaries.

26 November: Added the lyrics to the Society Is A Carnivorous Flower album and corrected numerous typos of 'Carniverous', including its URL in the discography. There's also a little more news on the new Japanese album and some potential reissues, and a possible pre-Christmas London support set. Plus a link to a photo page by Karl, who was at the recent London gig.

17 November: Unfortunately the Dublin show tonight is likely to be cancelled due to major problems with work permits. The band will be reviewing their options until the last possible moment and this website will be updated if there are any changes, but please also check with the venue if possible. The 27 November show is now in Lyon, not St Etienne, and there are also new / amended details for Viareggio, Budapest, Kiel and Freiburg.

14 November: More tour news - amended Brighton venue, support bands for Brighton, Liverpool and Leicester

29 October: Version #4 of the site is now live. Changes (other than the layout, duh!) include: quicker-downloading pages (in theory); more user-friendly navigation; vastly improved tab section; separate discography index pages with images (though the text list is still there if you want), plus one for related bands; much-delayed discography entries for the new Society... album and year-old World Famous Kintama Boxers comp.; cover scan and more info on the Surface Meets Surface tape comp.; 11 (!) Newsletters; a 2001 interview from Culture Burn; five more photos (from Glasgow, 2000); revised links page; expanded biographies, and generally much more information all over. Plus a few corrections. Hope you like it.

27 October: News of venues for the New Orleans show tomorrow and Athens, GA on Sunday, plus details of a new album - half originals, half covers - on Snuffy Smile

26 October: New UK show in Liverpool, amendment to Leicester gig. The News page has the schedule so far .

23 October: Basic details of three south-east US shows alongside the Fest 3 appearance.

21 October: More tour dates for the UK, northern Italy, Praha (Prague)

12 October: Much more detail added on the forthcoming European tour. The news page will be the only thing updated on this website until the new version is launched (unless the redesign takes too damn long), so please keep checking back.

10 October: A new website is under construction at the moment and should be available shortly. In the meantime, there's news of a Gainsville show as part of The Fest 3 and initial (very basic) details on a November European tour - this will be updated as info arrives.
